  Across the Wide and Lonesome Prairie (dear America-Oregon Trail)
  Author study- Andrew Clements
  Paddle to the Sea (great pic book for journaling through the Great Lakes)
  Mr. Poppers Penguins (and a non-fiction penguin book??)
  Skinnybones
  Yang the Youngest 
  In the year of the Boar
  more but these come to mind.
   
  We have "protected" books, but I cant tell you how many times I hear, "we 
read that last year."
