Thanks to those who commented about my student who exhibited faster reading
silently with good comprehension. I feel that in the upper intermediate too
many teachers want the kids to continue to read aloud and so they don't get
the necessary practice of listening to their inner conversations. I just wanted

to let Bill from Tampa Bay know that in a QRI administration the kids retell
the story without the story in front of them and also answer the questions
without the text. Our district only takes results without "lookbacks" I only
let the kids go back in the text to check if their wrong answers were the
results of poor working memory. And to the first person who wrote back- She
has
scored a low 3 on this year's ELA and her writing, while lacking good
spelling,
does have voice and ideas. Thanks for your help.
