I want to thank you for all for your input. I am new to this district, and they are making the DRA level 6 as a benchmark for being on grade level at the end of kindergarten. It was level 2 where I was before. I am just a little frustrated because most of my children are on level 3 and 4. I started in January with a class that was pulled from two different classes because of overcrowding. They also use the Wilson Fundations program for phonics. I am finding that the children want to tap or sound out EVERY word instead of using other reading strategies, which also makes their comprehension low. It has made me very aware of how I am going to teach next year!

I also each K and have found that about half my class is at goal, several are till at level 2 and a couple in the A, 1 range. I think it's hard because ome children are not developmentally ready to learn to read yet and others re so young still. Hope this helps. elly AB/CT n 6/5/07 9:03 PM, "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I have a question that may have been answered before, but to those of you who use the DRA as a reading assessment, I would like to know what you think is an appropriate level for kindergartners to have at the end of the year.
