I have always told my students that I consider my read aloud time as
sacred. I won't let anyone else read.

I agree read alouds are sacred, but I do the opposite. I invite
everybody who walks into my classroom to read to the children; parents and
even the
uppergrade students that come in at the end of the day to help get boots and
gloves on. If another teacher or the principal comes in, I invite them to
share their favorite book with us. My kindergarten children read to the class
throughout the year as well. In the beginning of the year they are doing
mostly
pretend reading, but they are proud of themselves. I think children need to
hear lots of read a loud voices. I guess I think adults do too. I would get
tired of hearing the same person read to me over and over.
