As long as the singer has the written lyrics in front of her or him, she/he is
reading. I have an article coming out in Reading Psychology this fall that
showed over a year's improvement in reading fluency and achievement among
struggling readers as a result of 3 months of an intervention program that
focused on students learning to sing.

Thanks from the bottom of my heart for all the input
on Read Alouds.

I will let you know how the sessions turn out and feed
back!

Along the lines of this thread--I had a disagreement
with my husband when I mentioned that I thought
singing was a form of reading aloud. This though cam
to me after reading Ginger's "from the heart and the
brain" and how reading has to be evoke emotions. He
disagreees.

I absolutely learn so much from ya'll!!
