*This dialogue began on the MOT2 between Bonita, Gina, and myself. I hope
we can continue having it here since it wasn't related to the designated
MOT2 chapters of the week...*

Thanks for the record keeping ideas, Bonita.

Another idea I've seen is to get a folder (no pockets) and tape index cards
on either side. Make one card per student. Overlap the cards so they all
fit. Write the students' names on the bottom of the index card so you can
easily see them. Can you visualize this? It's hard to explain. I need to
try this in the fall. I could see myself having 2 folders, one for each
class I teach. And I imagine the index cards would only last one
unit/strategy. Anecdotal notes could be made on these. These notes could
be taken during a book discussion, 1:1 conference, or even at home as you
look over a written assignment.

I feel like I need to find a checklist system that works well for me, like
the one you described. I guess I need some symbols to put in the little
boxes. Like I said in an earlier post, I am never sure what to write. What
do you write in the little gradebook-like boxes? I like the idea of trying
to combine this method with a place for comments. Hmmm...

How does everyone else keep records? How do you assessa (and grade) your
students overall comprehension and strategy use?
