I taught 3rd grade last year (Michigan). I was able to integrate reading, writing, and social studies with a project on the famous ship "Edmund Fitzgerald." The students amazed me with what they did! They were using many different comprehension skills, learning about history, and writing informational text. They loved this project! They were able to use the internet and books. I also played the song which became a classroom favorite:) Although Michigan's standards are not integrated, I was able to integrate them myself. I would highly recommend doing a project like this!
