Hi Bahiyh

Welcome to the list!

One suggestion for helping tap into students' prior knowledge is to  
use pictures to help spark their thinking. If you are charting prior  
knowledge with a KWL chart be sure to give plenty of time for  
students to give input, and review the chart responses with examples  
or anecdotes.
