Actually... My committee looked at the Fountas and Pinnell kit, Rigby, DRA and DAR kits this summer. Fountas and Pinnell was the cheapest of all...assuming you want to buy only the k-2 kit or the 3-5 kit. A classroom teacher would only need one or the other. I think the F&P kit is very similar, but I also recall that it was substantially more expensive. The DRA2 kit for K-3 also includes a Word Analysis assessment to use with kids who are struggling.
