Has anyone read the book, "Less is More"? There is a whole chapter on essay writing. Kimberly Hill Campbell (the author) cites lists of books that can be used for teaching essay writing and within that she refers to specific types of essays (essays on books and reading, on writing, on nature, on issues, and on and on!) she expands on certain teaching strategies and they link to essay writing, and she talks about literary craft in essays. It is a GREAT book! Check it out if you haven't already!
