The best planning resource I have ever seen if Nancy Akhaven's *How to Align Literacy Instruction, Assessment, and Standards and aaaaaachieve Results You NEVER Thought Possible*. She an administrator who taught her schools to teach through workshops and the scores in her district flew up. Use the strategies you love, but use this to plan to make sure you are both covering the standards AND what the kids need. She is now an assistant super in my district. SHe is amazing.
