No, Making Meaning is a year long curriculum for a certain grade and has to be puchased by the school, but if you are teaching elemenatry grades 1-3 then you should definitely buy Debbie Millers book 'reading with meaning" she gives great ideas for mini lessons and mentor texts to use. She is awesome. She also has a new book out which I have not seen but start with the reading with meaning, I literally used it for the first three years I taught 2nd grade when I had no curriculum whatsoever.
