We use Making Meaning at grades K-5. It is really teacher friendly and if
anyone has used Debbie Miller before it is very similar to her workshop
method. it also has all the books for read alouds included and suggestions
on how to teach the book using the specific strategy during your
min-lesson. we found it really helpful as we were using Debbie Miller but
having to find our own books to match each reading strategy. After three
years of a workshop method, by second and third grade my students are adept
at reading independently, keeping track of their thinking, and recording
their thinking, as well as responding in a variety of ways to books they are
reading at their own level.
I think the workshop method is the best way to teach and differentiate at
any grade level!
