Right on, Renee! You are wary with good reason, and I saw it this year. I had children from my class last year in THREE reading groups and NOT ONE of them can really function in a reading task w/out a teacher modeling or scaffolding for them. And forget independent reading. Thank you so much RTi. And you know what's funny? Last year, they had one intervention, and lots more time in class to read, and they all made pretty good gains. BTW...not one of them met on the state test...and that was the goal of all these groups. Normally, I would've made stink, but i had a baby this year, so I didn't feel i could speak up since i wasn't there. Argh! lisa 3rd/IL
