Hi Dave,
I have not been in a regular classroom for over a year now, but I have
a little anecdote for you anyway. I participate in a poetry workshop
group, and last month one of our members brought a four page, very
literary poem that had some repeat phrases. She had printed it out back
to back (two papers, both sides) and while we were
workshopping/critiquing this piece, I realized that having it all laid
out in front of me would have been a great help, and I found myself
flipping back and forth, front to back, to look at how the repeat
phrases and some references to past were used in different ways. She
promised to send it to me in email and I printed it out so I could lay
it out like a scroll (in this case, vertically) and boy, did that help
me read it!
Just thought I'd share. :-)

A penny for your thoughts: If you used scrolls and textmapping in your
classrooms last year, would you take a moment to summarize how things
went?
It could be as simple as, "I teach fourth grade language arts in
Timbuktu,
and it made a big difference for eight of my twenty-four students."
(And
perhaps you could give an example of a lesson that worked particularly
well,
or of a child who benefitted)
Your feedback would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
