I ran a successful summer program for four years based on literature circles
for ELL students. It was soooo much work but so worth it. I still haven;t
published my findings but the gains in achievement and attitude for both
students and teachers were amazing. Families also became involved...as? you can
imagine after four years:) I still reflect fondly on those summer experiences.

Subject: [MOSAIC] summer reading program

My school is grades 2-5 and we are looking at beginning a summer reading
program
for the first time. We are thinking about opening our library to parents and
students one day a week to check out books. My hope is to set up centers where
we can have different activities for parents and students. Does anyone have any

suggestions about how to model this or what your school does? Thank you!
