We use the DRA in my district from K - 4 along with some use of AIMSWEB for at-risk readers. AIMSWEB alone is not a great tool for measuring reading, as it only takes a word count from a less-than-authentic reading task, but DRA is a very useful tool.

If students are reading past level K, than you should be checking their silent reading comprehension. I like the Qualitative Reading Inventory. Also, fluency can be targeted once kids can read 40 to 50 words per minute. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Mena Sent: Tuesday, January 04, 2011 2:00 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [MOSAIC] Recent Literacy Assessments In a recent posting another blogger was told to avoid DIBELS.
