At the end of each chapter in Mosaic of Thought, there is a definition for
the strategy described in the chapter. If you email me off the list I'm
happy to send them to you as a single attachment and go into a bit more of
the history/research behind strategy instruction, though the bibliography in
Mosaic may help you.
Best,
ellin

Marcela,

I'll mention 2 just because they're my favorites; so forgive me IF you're
already familiar with them...
I Read It but IDon't Get it by Chris Tovani - she calls them "FIX IT"
strategies; and
then there's Strategies that Work - 2 by Stephanie Harvey and Anne Goudvis.

I Hope this helps.

What do you already know about reading comprehension strategies?

I am reading Mosaic of thought and Strategies that work. The next book is
Reading with intention by Debbie Miller.
But, it?s very difficult to define Comprehension strategies, because I
don?t Think is just a means to understanding. Is more deeper -is something
like organize thinking and think about it.
These books say about proficient readers use certain strategies for
comprenhension, but how they know that and how appointed that.
I also have many doubts about the historical perspective of the practice -
is cognitive - is based on the theories of Vygotsky - who started this
research?

Many questions???

Thank you.
