Deborah wrote, "Be a writer with them." Great advice -- and some people have a "Friday book" or whatever (scribbler) in which kids write-write-write knowing it will not be marked. It eases pressure on that end while boosting "the flow" -- as one early internet author said, "writing is easy after the first million words" (to paraphrase). ;-)
Regarding 'writing with them' -- so many kids do not have the 'inner language' we use (and presume) as adults, so composing paragraphs regularly as a cooperative task (you write, model your thinking out loud, solicit comments and adjustments) helps build that in. As to editing (and sharing), many teachers use peer editing but you will need to structure the task (as to what to look for, piece by piece) and I'd save it for much later in the year. Good thoughts, thanks. Linda Rightmire Kamloops, BC On Mon, Aug 27, 2012 at 5:48 AM, Deborah Hopp <[email protected]> wrote: > Be a writer with them is the best advice on this thread!
