Hi everyone,
I've been using Motion for a few years now, and I just updated to 4.1.1-1,
and added a second camera. Since I now have 2 cameras, I'm using the
Camera.conf files. I've been editing the files and trying some of the
options, but I'd like to optimize both my motion.conf and camera1.conf &
camera2.conf. My question is, which parameters can I move to the individual
camera, and which parameters NEED to stay in the motion.conf file? Ideally
I'd like to move as many parameters to the individual camera conf files so
that I can configure each camera separately from the other.

Also, Any suggestions on the best way to secure my motion site would be
greatly appreciated. I don't have http config currently turned on, and I'd
like to have that option in the future so I don't need to SSH into my
server every time I want to make a small config change.

Thank you all for any assistance!

Mike G.

I'm guessing based on a motioneye/motion.conf file.
But I think the minimum commands that must be in motion.conf are:

thread
setup_mode
webcontrol_*

I believe the way it works is that the individual.conf files take
precedence over parameters in the global file. It's what I do. I keep
meaning to trim down my global file just to keep it lean and clean, but
I suspect apart from neatness and clarity there is no practical benefit.

From: https://motion-project.github.io/motion_config.html

"Any option defined in motion.conf will be used for all cameras except
for the cameras in which the same option is defined in a camera config
file."
