Eight enthusiastic birders showed up at westwood hills nature center friday
morning . After a rain shower dampened the start agreat morning of birding
was had by all. 51 species were seen and identified plus a few warblers got
away in the thick canopys. highlights were a virginia rail on the boardwalk
eating insects and giving everyone a look see in the scope. many singing
warbling vireos,wood peewees,rt hummingbirds,catbirds, and cedar waxwings.
also canada warbler bl and white, redstart, yellow, wellowthroat, bl gr
gnatcatcher,and philadelphia vireo,redeyed and the usual
common specieswere seen. thank you to all who partipated. will be off to SE
AZ to see all the specialtys down there but hope to have another walk a week
from friday at eight. Thanks to the staff at ww hills for there hospitality.
