2010 Preliminary Field Trip & Workshop List
(Updates will follow as we set up new trips. Could definitely use Duluth/northern, western and Twin Cities area trips and leaders.) a.. March 13th and 27th. Mississippi River Trips. Meet at the Kwik Trip in LaCrescent, MN at 9:00 AM. Caravan will travel south on Highway 26 in Minnesota and Iowa, crossing into Wisconsin from Lansing, then north on Highway 35 to LaCrosse/LaCrescent. Early spring birding, heavy emphasis on waterfowl. Bring brown bag lunch or lunch briefly at café in Lansing. Total trip time about 6 hours. Contact Fred Lesher at [email protected] register. Chris West will also be leading 1-2 Mississippi River Trips, but from LaCrosse north to Minneapolis, one in the spring, one in the fall, details forthcoming. a.. Saturday May 15th, Sherburne Refuge & Beyond, beginning at 7:00 AM. Warblers and migrating passerines, we often break 100 species during the day, weather permitting. Will probably head up to Mille Lacs Lake & Kathio State Park in the afternoon. Al & Nate Schirmacher are co-leaders. Trip is currently full, but still taking waiting list names. Warblers, passerines and boreal nesters; Connecticut Warblers, Yellow-bellied Flycatchers and Boreal Chickadees last year; meeting at Rice Lake Refuge to park and ride.
