This morning my wife dragged me still dripping to the window to look at a
second or third year Bald Eagle worrying the remains of a rabbit or raccoon
left on the ice by last night's preditor. In the puddle on the edge of the ice
a Hooded Merganser in full display swam circles muttering like an expectant
father. He was later joined by his mate who had obviously been taking care of
laying in one of nest boxes over looking the puddle.

Yesterday, everywhere I exited from the truck's music cocoon, I found a mix of
House Finches, Red-wing Blackbirds, Cardinals, and occasionally Robins filling
the air.

On Tuesday, I heard my first Killdeer.
