New birds for the spring this morning included American Wigeon, Northern
Pintail, Northern Shoveler, American Woodcock, Great Egret, and Herring Gull.
There was also an Eastern Meadowlark back singing at Chevalle wetlands in
Chaska. Tundra Swan numbers were down again this morning with 369, 200 along
Cty. Rd. 51(few leaving), 145 along 150th St., and 24 flying over Carver Park.
There was a flock in a field along Hwy. 212 that I was unable to count that had
not been there yesterday. 1000-1500 ducks are now along 150th St. with the
majority too distant to identify without perfect lighting. Of those
identified the majority of the increase over the past 24 hours seemed to be
Mallard, Scaup, and Ring-necked Duck, but I also noticed a few more Bufflehead,
Common Goldeneye, Redhead, Canvasback, and ~30 Wood Duck in a separate little
pool along 150th St.
