This evening, I checked out Aitkin C.R.1 again. About 9 miles north of the intersection, I found a NORTHERN SHRIKE. Right at dark, near the junction of C.R.1 and C.R.22, there were about 1000 CANADA GEESE, 50 CACKLING GEESE and a ROSS' GOOSE. Behind the geese, about half way out into the field, there were about 500 SANDHILL CRANES and a couple flocks of LAPLAND LONGSPURS. PINE SISKINS have begun turning up at feeders by the hundreds (at least 60 at my feeders, over a hundred at one feeder near Palisade and many other reporting them, to mention only a few).
