For server secnews.netscape.com replace port 119 with port 563 and 
activate 'Use secure connection (SSL)' - then go to
http://docs.iplanet.com/docs/psm/psm-mozilla/index.html
(download PSM for Windows, as you run Win98; be sure that software 
installation is enabled in Mozilla). Restart your mail/news program.
