Look Simon I don't want to pick a fight with you. I like you, you give straight answers.

I keep hearing this Montra about Plugins are broke on the Mac.
Its been repeated over and over, for over a Year. Be it Mozilla or netscape6 what's so d#$% hard about fixing the bug.

I am getting D#$% tired of being treated like a Second class citizen simply because my platform of Choice is a Mac.

My experiences with PC working on them for a school system for 17 years. (Crappy unreliable equipment, no common vendor from box to box for parts therefore no quality control. Software too easy to hack into by even elementary kids; all time having to retore Hard drives or reload software/system because the hard drive was wipped clean or a key file was deleted intentional or by mistake.)  - you couldn't run me down, and give me 10 million Dollars to even place one in my House let alone use one. The only time I would consider such would be if Apple were to go under and support quit like with the Amiga Platform. Then I would reluctantly have to. Plus I hate the idea of surendering to Bill Gates (its a scarey thought that the health and saftey of 10 billiuon computers in the world, hinge on the health of Microsoft and Bill Gates.

I don't hate PC users more power to them. If that's what they want fine. But as a Mac User I am just sick and tired of being treated like a "Red-Headed Step Child."

Only Mozilla or Netscape can help. Plugins are not turned on despite

This is bollocks.  It may be true that plugins on the Mac are broken, I don't really know but they certainly aren't in general on the Windows platform, nor I think on Linux.   As BH Que mentions The Windows Media player my guess is that its a Windows platform that's in question.

There is a RealAudio FAQ for adding the mimetypes, the Netscape FAQ I think covers some of the others.  Check the Helper Applications section in the Preferences, the minimum that should be there (again I'm talking Windows Platform), is text/html and audio/wav.  If you know the handlers for specific mimetypes then you can add them in here.

We go to remember N6 and Moz are supposed to 100% standards compliant.
Although the standards for plugins have been around 10 years or more (if
everyone - plugin manufacturers - have been writing the same way for
years that seems like a standard).

ummm no plugins may vary per platform and release there's a lot of goop in plugins.  As it is plugins from 4.x are generally supported (some might not work).

Anyway I plugins don't work. No sounds work and the only images work is
jpg, gif images and those only because those types have always been
built in.

You need to add PNG, Mozilla will also launch helper apps if it spots them in the general registry, so clicking on a BMP will optionally launch Paint for example.  As for sounds I get irritating midi files playing as well as WAVs.
