Unfortunately, it _is_ true that this file must be deleted to start
Mozilla in some (rare) circumstances.
I personally have seen this quite a number of times, and in the win32
newsgroup you will find that just one hour or so after your post, it was
suggested to a user that they remove these files - and sure enough, they
could again start Mozilla.
Indeed, I have a mozregistry.dat file in my inbox that causes such a
crash, and intend seeing if I can find exactly who is hanging...
