I think what you don't understand is that the next version of Netscape (6.5 
probably) will not be evolved from 6.01, but from mozilla 0.9.x or 1.0.

I other words, Netscape will have to go through the effort of grafting all their 
extra stuff on again. There's some duplication of effort this way, but the code 
is not forked, just branched.
