I don't know about the USA, but they're carpet-bombing the TV with adverts

"Microsoft, AOL near Windows pact.

AOL will be bundled with XP and will distribute IE browser."

This is the last I heard of it. Is there more recent news that I've
missed?

In exchange for an _incredible_ amount of exposure through bundling with
Windows.
