The root element of an XHTML document is <html>, according to 
http://www.w3.org/TR/2000/REC-xhtml1-20000126/#docconf . Not <x-html>. 
Whatever software is sending that message is blowing it.

You might also want to check the message source to see if the MIME type 
is text/plain or text/xml.
