(switches hats) This statement is something that has always bothered me, 
because many Germans only see certain aspects of US culture and (due to 
their own culture) simply do not even see some of the cultural richness 
america has. It is very difficult to explain and even more difficult to 
understand, but the american's tendency to view almost everything from 
an emotional/personal (not necessarily irrational) basis is something i 
see as a deeply humanitarian trait I often sorely miss here in Germany.

It's kind of a running joke here in europe that amercans have no culture 
(crude, loud, poorly dressed, no manners, superficial, etc). It is a 
cliche that, like all cliches, has a great deal of truth, but 
unfortunately, in this case, neglects the truly monumental contribution 
american culture has made to this planet.

We all still have a lot to learn from each other. I really hope the Euro 
doesn't cause america and europ to become isolated from each other.
