Philosophically I **was** inclined toward your position. I remember
there was a discussion a while ago about Preferences windows centereda
about what should be there. I think there was some consensus that
anything that is a preference should be there and Themes is a preference
a belongs there. But in terms of practical use, I think changing themes
could also be duplicated under other menus and View is an appropriate
one (Bookmarks is an important feature that is replicated in three
different areas (Menu bar, Personal Toolbar, Sidebar).
I am convinced theme changing is going to be a BIG fauture for a lot of
peoiple, especially younger generations, and not so young generations
too. People have an urge to personalize things to ascert their
individuality and uniqueness. I teach several science courses at a
college level where students are required to have a laptop. I have
noticed that NOT EVEN ONE of them have the default desktop settings. I
was surprised than in a particulkar section with 12 students each one
had a DIFFERENT setting.
I have 3 nephews and one niece. They have Winamp in their computers,
each one with a different skin and they told me they like to change it
all the time. When I asked them if they would consider using another
equivalent application without the ability to change skins they said no.
