Hmmm.  Can you (or anyone else) please elaborate on those "security
reasons"?  I can't see how disabling local links in the browser
improves security, especially if it only takes two additional mouse
clicks to get around this restriction?

I checked with other browsers (Navigator 4.75, Opera 5, Lynx), and
they all work as expected, so Mozilla violates the "standard
behaviour", which IMHO should only be done with a good reason.

By any chance, is this "feature" runtime configurable (prefs)?
