Huh? I have that 3rd pane open all the time and I haven't ru nout of 
screen space yet. I don't even have my mail window maximised. Oh wait, I 
*do* have a 21" screen. But the mail window's only about 1024x768 big.

What's so hard about "hiding" the 3rd panel by clicking on that bar? 
That's what I'd do if I needed more room to read messages.
