When I install a new version of Moz or N6 I do the following: I remove the Moz or netscape Application Folder I remove the Mozilla Folder from the Documents Folder I remove the Mozilla Versions File from preferences. I remove the Mozilla Registry file. All the above files go in trash and are emptied. I restart with extensions off. I rebuild the desktop. (to remove all traces of the previous versions in the dsesktop) I download the latest version I wish to try either from Mozilla, or Netscape using latest version Interarchy (Anarchie). I try one nightly a month for Mozilla. (latest one downloaded Saturday.) I turn off any Virus programs. I install the program downloaded. I even try using a custom Extension / Control Panel set. I am using a G4-500 with 1.5 gb system RAM. OS 9.1, the latest system Firmware. also the latest Carbonlib extension 1.4.x (which is required by some of my other Applications to work). No change. Not one iota of difference. The thing is this is only started about four versions ago, Quicktime did play some embedded sounds, images didn't flash on and off before then. I have not added any new programs only minor updates of program I already have am I doing the install of newer versions incorrectly? What suggestions do you have that would cause it. I've run out of ideas. I've repeatedly reported this here and get blown off as some sort of nut case eccentric. Instead of asking others whether they have had similar experiences. I can't believe its my system when both Netscape 6 and Mozilla both react exactly the same way. If every internet application I had reacted the same way then I would say it was my system. But the only two that do are basically "kissing cousins" of each other. Makes me believe its a fault of N6/Moz. You have to remember that except for me and possibly you we may be the only ones on this group that use a Mac. Everyone use Unix or Windows. > > > If you run across a newsgroup that uses old style layer tags which are > > not allowed in MOZ/N6 the image flash on and off at a rapid rate and > > the only way to get out of the post is to do a restart of the computer > > (again the Mac platform). > > Have you filed a bug about the restart? No I was waiting to see someone else has the >problem. The restart deal happens with Netscape 6.2 or the latest nightly of Mozilla. Of course Communicator doesn't exbit the flashing problem nor does OE/Entourage (tried just to see what would happen). > > > Even on a G4-500 with 1.5gb of system RAM its still about 3 times or > > more slower to open up at start even with Communicator having tons of > > Bookmarks, and system having tons of Fonts. > > This certainly is a problem. Luckily, the situation (at least relative > to IE) is better on OS X. I am passing up that for now as I will have to buy or install additional hard drive(s) to install OS X on. I am not risking screwing up my data using it with OS X. Also I am not thrilled with the thought of going to UNIX. > > -- > Henri Sivonen > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > http://www.clinet.fi/~henris/ -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Phillip M.
