It is anything but silly. As I mentioned in a previous post in this thread, we are supporting many non-standard IE extensions in Mozilla, but again, I fail to see how standards compliance or standards come into play here, since there is no Web browser standard. This is a feature of the browser, not of the layout engine, and the entire browser is non-standard.
