Get Mail improvement

When the user clicks get mail, do other people think it should open a
window similar to a download window?  After all, it is downloading.

It would also be nice to have the "There are no new messages" message
stay up a wee bit longer.  When it's in the status bar sometimes I have
to click get mail before I can actually see that status bar message.
this problem could easily be solved with a download mail dialog box.

I just think it would make it a little bit more user friendly.
