timeless is doing some work on the standalone message window. There are
a couple of issues I'd like to talk about:

1. Should there be a sidebar in this window?

My opinion is that there shouldn't be if it will add to the time it
takes to open the window. In a previous discussion, most members of the
mozilla community
were against putting a sidebar in the compose window because it would
make performance worse and because the compose window is a temporary window.
I would argue that both apply to the standalone as well in it's current
state. Perhaps if we added navigation to this window, the sidebar would
make more sense but as it stands,
nobody will be living in this window as they might in the 3 pane. It
was also a requirement back when I implemented this window that it be as
fast as possible.
I don't think adding a sidebar will help this out.

2. Should the message headers be in the same toolbox as the main
toolbar rather than in a box with the message?

If there is no sidebar in this window then I don't think this will be a
problem. I won't know until seeing it. If there is a sidebar, I think
this might look strange
to have the headers stretched out over the main message as well as the
sidebar. Once again, I couldn't really say without seeing it.

Any other opinions?
