That's wrong. The sidebar is just a little webspace (HTML) or app space
(XUL). It can hold parts of the app as well.
- E.g. an addressing pane like in OE5 would be easily and cleanly (code
and UE) implementable with the sidebar.
- Netscape's AIM panel makes some sense, too - from a high level,
Mailnews is for communciaton between persons - a buddy list can be a
nice addition (depending on the user's way to work and preferences).

But I see no sense in having it in the Composer or Standalone msg window
- the 3 pane will most likely be open and probably be visible at the
same time, and the sidebar can be made visible there. IMO, no need to
have 3 sidebars on screen.

While I can certainly see that many people want it to scroll, I like it
the way it is. The headers are for me similar to the window headers -
something to give orientation, which has to be visible all the time. (I
have enough screen space :-) .)
