I've noted a few curiosities with the 2/10 nightly on Linux with respect 
to the mail/news task too.  On first launching, there's a strange list 
of text that looks a lot like menu choices in the area where the message 
subjects normally appear.  Also, the old highlighting bug is gone, but a 
new highlighting bug for message subjects has taken its place.  
Sometimes the current message is not highlighted in the subject list, 
and sometimes the entire subject list disappears, leaving a blank screen.
