F=f is a subset (although not necessarily in ASCII) of plain text.

Nope -- but Eudora does (not sure what version).

Regardless, it is the best solution so far proposed (that I am aware
of) for putting soft-returns (i.e. defining a paragraph structure) into
mail/news messages.  As such, it should be adopted by anyone interested
in doing so.
