For those interested in the progress, here's the status of the mailnews
performance branch.
There is now only one thread pane so you can see folder loading. It's
very fast. There's also a date column which you can sort by. Selection
works (try shift-selecting from top to bottom and see how fast it is)
and you can now display messages. Things are moving along nicely, but
it's still a work in progress. So as I mentioned before, please no bug
filing yet. If you're interested in seeing the progress, pull the
branch and build it. So far, all of the performance gains we've hoped
for are holding up.
