Subscribing to Newsgroups

Downloaded 0.9.1 (win32) and loving it.  Working with the email client, 
I happend to notice the following:

I created a new profile when I downloaded 0.9.1.  When I wanted to click 
on a newsgroups for selection, the little check would never appear - as 
a result, the headers for that newsgroup were never downloaded.  The 
newsgroup in question was Microsoft Newsgroup for Windows XP.  Oddly 
enough, when I set up the newsgroups for Mozilla, they worked perfectly. 
Anyone with a clue?

In other words - I could never select a newsgroup for download.  A check 
mark would never appear even if I selected the SUBSCRIBE button. 
Exception - Mozilla Newsgroups.
