Sometimes the username/password does get lost or confused. Haven't
figured out any rhyme or reason why or under what conditions this
happens. For example, my ISP requires authentication for its news server
access. The login username/password was saved the first time I accessed
the server. All of a sudden (weeks later) I get asked for
username/password again. I now have that news server showing up *twice*
in Stored Passwords for each ng on that server, plus one entry for the
server level (#username and #password). At one time I had about 6
entries per ng. After deleting all of them and starting fresh, repeated
logins haven't disappeared, but only happen occassionally. I just got
asked for a new login yesterday. Can't blame it on some incompatibility
issue with a new build, since I haven't downloaded one in about a week
and I'm on that server daily. I keep forgetting to capture an NNTP log
to see if something shows up there. Could also be related to an abnormal
shutdown of mail/news. I think I had one of those yesterday after my
dial-up connection froze.

BTW, the Username column in Stored Passwords does not show the actual
login username. For the news server entries, it shows what may have been
the email account name that I initially set it up as, but is nothing
like the actual username or email address I use for that account. It
confused me at first, but I've learned to ignore a lot of things like
this in mozilla. ;)
