Well, I'm hoping someone on this newsgroup can help. Here's the
problem I'm having.
My problem is this: I migrated over 500 MB worth of emails, but
they seem to have *disapeared*! Specifically, the email account
appears in the left-hand pane in mail-and-news, but after
restarting Mozilla, it appears to have no folders under it!
Specifically, here's a complete accounting of what I did. I needed
to migrate to a new computer, and at the same time wanted to
migrate from keeping my mail in Netscape 4.6 to keeping it in
Mozilla. On top of that I wanted my user prefs and emails kept in
a non-standard location. So I did the following:
* Copied old Netscape user-files to new computer.
* Using Netscape 4.6 on the new computer, created a user
in that directory, which made the emails accessible in
NS4.6 on the new computer.
* Grabbed the latest Mozilla release (0.9.3) and, in profile
manager, created a NEW user, so I could specify the
directory location.
* In Mozilla profile manager I ALSO migrated the NS4.6 user
over to Mozilla. This created a user profile (in the default
location) with the emails.
* In Mozilla I copied the files from the user profile in the
default location to the one in the location I preferred.
* I also fiddled with a few other files to try and migrate over
bookmarks and cookies from my previous machine.
So I have two questions:
(1) Was there an easier way to do this?
(2) (Really important) HOW DO I RESTORE MY 500 MB OF EMAILS!
Anyone out there think they can help? If so, please reply here
AND email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] because I'm not sure whether I'll
be able to check the newsgroup for an answer.
