Actually, as best as I can figure it, the problem lay in the location
of the files. Despite my configuring it to store files in a different
location, it was looking in
C:\Documents_and_Settings\<win-user>\Application_Data\Mozilla\Profiles\<moz-user>
for the mail and news files. And FURTHERMORE, it wouldn't even look in
the correct mozilla-user file... only the first one it created. I really
don't undersand this behavior, and IF ANYONE DOES UNDERSTAND IT, PLEASE
RESPOND! I won't submit a bug, though, because I don't know that it's
wrong, I simply don't understand.
