Ben, one place you could look at for resources for building a mozilla
component is http://xulplanet.com/ I have seen this mentioned by at
least one other person that has written a mozilla add-on, being David
Illsley's User Agent Toolbar http://www.illsley.org/useragent.shtml
I have no idea if you could write a spell checker using XUL, but it is
worth checking into. I'm not a programmer, but would definitely help
you test this when/if it gets written.
