Does anyone know how the default character set is determined? I ask because I recently tried to post an email containing the Euro symbol only to discover it being munged to "EUR" when I sent it. I raised a bug on it:
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=109342 I would have hoped that Mozilla would have seen from my locale settings that I live in the Euro zone and picked the most appropriate default charset for me which is iso-8859-15, not iso-8859-1. While the solution of changing the prefs is simple if you know it, I doubt most European users have much concept of what a character set let alone what it is has to do with their Euro symbols not showing up. As the Euro is 50 days away from hard currency reality, it may be a good idea to nip this in the bud right now.
