Hi all,

in my little home network, I use several mail clients on my 3 computers,
but would like to share all my data between them. In detail:
1. I have a Linux machine, and Mozilla Mail (always the current
milestone build) is my preferred mail client.
2. On my Windows desktop computer, I also use the Mozilla Mail client,
but sometimes would prefer Outlook.
3. My Notebook (Win98) is a Pentium 120 with 32 MB RAM only - running
Mozilla is impossible. That's why I use Outlook Express 6 as mail client.

The problem of sharing the mail folders and messages I solved by setting
up an IMAP server on the Linux machine. So I can access all messages
from every computer and every Mail client, and can see which messages
still have been replied and so on. There is no problem with this.

But how can I share the address book data?
I guess the proper way for doing this would be to set up an LDAP server
on the Linux machine where the IMAP server is running.
AFAIK, Mozilla Mail can currently only READ data from an LDAP server,
but I would like to have the possibility also to ADD addresses to a
common shared address book. I want to have the addresses from the
"Collected Addresses" address book from Mozilla available on the other
machines, too, and I want to have the addresses from the Outlook Express
address book on the notebook to be available in Mozilla on the other
machines...

1. Is there anyone having a similar problem and has already a solution,
or is working on a solution for a common shared address book?
2. Is it already known when Mozilla Mail will support WRITE access to a
LDAP server? Will it then be possible to share the adress data between
Mozilla and Outlook / Outlook Express via LDAP (in fact, i never set up
a LDAP server so far and don't know much about it)

Thanks for any advice,

Christoph
